๐Ÿชธ Overview

Torch corals are best kept in a mature, stable reef aquarium. They extend long fleshy tentacles and can sting neighbouring corals, so spacing is just as important as lighting and flow.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Acclimation Timeline

๐ŸŒก Float Bag

Float the sealed bag for 15โ€“20 minutes to match temperature.

๐Ÿ’ง Mix Water

Open the bag and slowly add small amounts of tank water over 20โ€“30 minutes.

๐Ÿชฃ Coral Dip

Use a proper coral dip if you normally dip new arrivals. Always follow the product instructions.

๐Ÿ’ก Light Acclimate

Start slightly lower in the tank and increase light exposure gradually if needed.

๐Ÿชธ Place Carefully

Use the guide placement advice and avoid touching fleshy coral tissue.

๐Ÿ‘€ Observe

Avoid heavy feeding for 24โ€“48 hours and allow the coral time to settle.

Start Torch corals lower in the tank and let them settle before moving them. Avoid strong light changes and do not place them straight into heavy flow.

๐Ÿ’ก Lighting

Medium lighting is generally suitable. Avoid sudden increases in intensity and watch how the animal responds over the first week.

๐ŸŒŠ Flow

Aim for Medium indirect flow. Avoid blasting tissue directly and make sure debris does not settle for long periods.

๐Ÿฝ Feeding

Optional weekly target feeding. Avoid overfeeding and remove uneaten food where possible.

๐Ÿ“ Placement

Best placed around: Lower to middle rockwork. Give enough room for growth and avoid irritating neighbours.

โค๏ธ Friday Frags Tips

  • Give Torch corals plenty of room from neighbouring corals.
  • Avoid moving them repeatedly once they start opening well.
  • If a Torch suddenly retracts, check flow and nearby stinging corals first.

๐Ÿ› Pest Awareness

  • Flatworms
  • Aiptasia on plug
  • Vermetid snails
  • Bristleworms around base

โš ๏ธ Common Problems

  • Brown jelly disease
  • Tissue recession
  • Closed polyps after stress
  • Too much direct flow

โ“ FAQ

Are Torch corals beginner friendly?

They are better for reef keepers with some experience because they need stable water and careful placement.

Can Torch corals touch Hammer corals?

It is safest to keep them apart. Torches are usually more aggressive and can damage other Euphyllia.

Why is my Torch not opening?

Common causes are shipping stress, too much direct flow, sudden light change, unstable parameters or irritation from nearby corals.
